The joy of SAP

Went into B&Q bright and early this morning to get our order in and leave us the whole day free. Should have known better. The guy who sells conservatories doesn't roll in until 10:00am! Had to wait over an hour for him to get there as no one else in the entire store is capable of selling it to us!

Next obstacle is B&Q's implementation of the all conquering German 'SAP' ordering system. Having had first hand experience with this software, I knew as soon as I saw the logo we were going to be in for a rough ride. And so it proved to be. The system couldn't see any of the printers in the store and the web based interface kept loosing connection with it's database. I ended up giving the guy selling the conservatory IT support!

How difficult can it be to buy a conservatory!!

The man from B&Q

A nice chap from B&Q came round this evening and analysed our low roof. He took us through our options and we're definitely looking at a 'Lean to' style job. He suggested going for a 2.3x2.3m dwarf wall conservatory and building out under the low hanging roof to give us a total extended area of c.3x2.3m. Sounds good and with all the deals on it came in at a nice price. Need to pop into B&Q at the week end to put our order in

Conception

We've decide to start looking at conservatories. We only really have space and funds for a small conservatory, which will mostly be used for somewhere to put the cats at night. Cats are great, but they bring all sorts of dead (and sometimes not so dead) 'things' into the house, which sometimes go days before being found (nice!).

We've had a look around at a few places and have arranged for a guy from B&Q to come and have a look at our plot and give us the low down and what's possible and at what cost.

We're after something about 2x3 meters (6.5ft x 10ft) and are limited to the 'lean to' type, as we've got a chalet style house which has an overhang roof, coming down low enough to prevent us having an Edwardian or Georgian style conservatory. The Competition We checked out the local rag for deals as well as the local Wicks superstore and Argos. B&Q have a great deal on at the moment though and we've also got an extra 10% off, so it looks like B&Q are the front runners
