Trojans make semi's...
|
Trojans make the Semi Finals of the National EHA Second XI, with a 2-1 win over Leicester. ..
The midlands side were left deflated after an awesome performance from Trojans second XI gave them a 2-1 win and a place in the semi final against Exeter on January 13th.
Trojans conceded an early penalty flick, but Leicester failed to convert and were under the cosh for much of the remainder of the first period. Shortly after the half time break however, Leicester scrambled home a scrappy opener following confusion in the Trojans D.
Trojans came out all guns blazing after the restart and were soon level as a result of a typical Sally Gibson scud, launched from a slick penalty corner.
With the sides deadlocked after 70 minutes, the game went into golden goal, over time. Trojans victory was secured when a well worked attack resulted in long time absentee, Louise Oakley, laying off the perfect ball for Gibson to tap in her second and book Trojans ticket to the Semi's

Bristol City vs the Cobblers
|
Anticipation for the Bristol City Vs. Northampton Town showdown was running at fever pitch in the build up to match day, Saturday 3 March 2007.
City's lacklustre mid week display against Rovers, saw them loosing a rare cup final opportunity to their local rivals and the anticipated home drubbing at the hands of the glorious NTFC seemed all but inevitable. Fate however was smiling on the league one minnows, as NTFC saw chance after chance thwarted by a bad run of the green.
City got their undeserved slice of luck on 19 minutes, after Town's keeper brilliantly parried a rare City shot into the path of the aptly named Kevin 'Betsy', who couldn't fail but to bundle the ball into the back of the net.
As you would expect, Town came back strongly in the second half, and at times City had trouble getting near the ball. In the end, a mixture of poor stewardship from the officials, some unsportsmanlike conduct from City and the woodwork were to deny Town an easily deserved three points.
Another day could have seen a very different score line, but the entertainment was undeniable as city pulled off an unlikely victory
