Whiskey Jack is my favourite hostel from our tour. It has superb views over the Yoho Glacier (part of the Wapta ice field) and Takakkaw waterfalls. It's a very remote hostel and carries a strong feeling of isolation.
We had left Whiskey Jack by 7am on our fourth day. The ground was covered by frost and we had to wear socks on our hands for the first few hours until the sun showed it's head. Heading back to Lake Louise on Route 1 there is a 10 mile hill which is fine cycling down, but slow work going back up! From Route 1, there are fantastic views of the Kicking Horse Pass railway figure of eight system. This system lowers the gradient for trains running the Canadian Pacific railway.
We arrived back at Lake Louise around midday where we had a bite to eat and replenished our supply of shrink wrapped bacon - our staple diet for the rest of the tour! Passing the picturesque Hector lake, we turned onto route 93 which would eventually take us all the way to Jasper. We arrived at mosquito Creek hostel after a few hours ride |
