Having made our flight, we were soon re-assembling our bikes in the fading light outside Keflavik airport. We then found Njardvik hostel, but it was too late to get a room, so we grabbed a couple of hours sleep in the common room.
We awoke at dawn and headed off for Reykjavik The ride to Reykjavik is a short hop of 35 miles over an undulating road. The scenery along route 41 is mostly volcanic lava, but there a couple of good views to be had. By early afternoon, we had arrived in Reykjavik and soon found the modern 'Hostel International'.
With the best part of the day still ahead of us and a ridge of high pressure providing glorious sunshine, we headed into Reykjavik to see the sights and grab a bite to eat. Reykjavik's striking, gleaming white concrete cathedral is a must for any visit to the capital, while Reykjavik itself is a clean and friendly city. |
