Day 2 starts as every day should – with a full English – and ends as every day should – with a red hot Balti!

The weather today is nothing short of stunning, with the sun beating down from an azure blue sky. I make a 5 mile detour off the A30, to Sainsbury’s in Truro for sun block and the obligatory packet of Bassett’s Liquorish All-Sorts – the cornerstone of any successful cycling trip.

Re-joining the A30 north of Truro, I continue to Bodmin, where the relentless clunking of my rear sprocket, which has been dogging me all day, finally gets the better of me. It’s still early in the afternoon so I Google up the Bodmin branch of Halfords on the iphone and chance my arm that they're able to do me a quick pit-stop and change the offending sprocket. Lady luck is with me and I’m in and out of Halfords, new parts fitted, in under an hour.

Sunday night in Liskeard is not one of the wilder experiences in life, but there is an adequate curry house and over a Balti & Cobra I chew the proverbial fat with a Dutch guy, who’s over here cycling the highways and byways of Cornwall.

So Exeter via Dartmoor is the plan for tomorrow but it looks like the weather might break. One thing is for sure; tomorrow, there will be hills!
