Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine & Sagano bamboo forest
Monday 13 April 2015
We traded cycling for sightseeing over the next few days, starting with a day in Kyoto and a short train ride to Ushimi Inari to visit the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine. As we began the 4km walk through the famous orange gates, the heavens opened and we were thankful we weren't on the bikes.
The rain got progressively worse as the day went on and we headed north to check out the bamboo groves at Sagano. Truth be told, once you've walked through the main pathway here there's not a lot more to see and it felt like a long way to have travelled, even if it did make for a good photo.
